Deborah Friedland has more than 20 years of real estate advisory experience. Deborah specializes in feasibility and benchmarking studies, operational strategy analysis, property conversion analysis, asset management, valuation and transactional due diligence for investors and lenders. Over the course of her career, she has advised clients in connection with the acquisition, finance, restructuring, conversion and operation of real estate including hospitality, gaming, senior housing and assisted living, industrial, commercial, mixed use, golf course and amusement park properties as well as numerous REITS dedicated to investing in such properties. She has structured master leases for taxable and non-taxable REIT structures involving public and private projects.
Deborah joined Goldin from FTI Schonbraun McCann Group where she was a managing director and responsible for launching the firm’s hospitality practice. Earlier, she was a Director at Horwath Horizon where, among other projects, she consulted on real estate development and conversion projects for hospitality and condominium properties. Before that, Deborah was a senior equity research analyst at ABN Amro, where she co-headed the REIT research team. Her responsibilities included publishing industry and company specific research targeting the institutional investment community and coordinating efforts with the investment banking team. Prior to joining ABN Amro, Ms. Friedland launched the REIT equity research effort at Dain Rauscher Wessels. During her tenure at the firm, she assisted in successfully marketing several company IPO’s and secondary offerings. Ms. Friedland began her Wall Street career as an associate at Smith Barney in their gaming and REIT groups.
In 2006, Deborah was recognized as one of the most influential women in real estate by “Real Estate New Jersey” for her contributions to commercial real estate. Deborah serves on the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration career advisory board.
Deborah has a M.S in Real Estate Finance and a B.S. in Hospitality Administration both from Cornell University.
