GOLDIN ASSOCIATES' PROFESSIONALS
Harsimrat S. (“H.S.”) Bhattal has advised a wide variety of clients during his time at Goldin Associates. Most recently, he has been on-site at Syncora Guarantee, a monoline financial guarantor, supporting Goldin’s interim financial management efforts in conjunction with the company’s restructuring activities. Before that, he helped manage the winddown of a company that invested in residential mortgages. He has been a key member of the Goldin team that advised the independent directors of ResCap in connection with its restructuring and provided multiple fairness opinions in connection with the sale of RecCap’s interest in GMAC (Ally) Bank, the sale of ResMor (a Canadian subsidiary), the sale of RFS, a broker-dealer and the extension and expansion of line of credit.
H.S. has worked on valuation, liquidity analysis, solvency, business plan review, intercompany analysis and oversight of business operations in connection with Goldin’s financial and restructuring advisory engagements. At Refco, he supported the debtor’s efforts to develop a plan of reorganization and wind down its activities. He was a key member of Goldin’s team which advised the SEC-appointed Receiver of Wood River Capital Management (hedge fund manager) and its failed funds and assisted the Receiver to evaluate and liquidate the funds’ securities portfolios. H.S. supported Goldin’s engagement as financial advisor to SeaSpecialties (a Florida based processor and distributor of seafood products) in connection with the sale of its seafood division.
H.S. has also assisted the firm’s efforts to provide expert analysis on valuation, solvency and other financial analysis in, among others, such matters as Asia Global Crossing (telecommunications company), Metromedia Fiber Network (fiber optic network infrastructure services) and Adelphia Communications.
Mr. Bhattal has an M.B.A., with a concentration in finance, from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is a certified public accountant (inactive) and began his career at Deloitte & Touche’s San Francisco office.
