Originally an engineer, Karthik Bhavaraju has more than 15 years of operating, investing and advisory experience across a variety of industries, including technology, healthcare, energy, manufacturing and financial services. He has played a key role in Goldin engagements involving debtor and creditor advisory, interim management, forensic financial review, solvency analysis and calculation of damages. Such matters have included Energy Future Holdings, Caesars, Patriot Coal, Pulse Electronics, City of Harrisburg, Qimonda, Glasstech and others. Karthik has also served as the interim head of financial planning of Syncora Guarantee and a testimonial witness on valuation-related issues on behalf of the Fletcher funds trustee. Among his current matters, Karthik is advising the Unsecured Creditors Committee in Novum Pharma, the trustee in Millennium Health and the receiver in Platinum Partners.
Karthik joined Goldin from Primus Asset Management, an alternative investment firm focused on derivative investments in corporate and asset-backed credit. He analyzed companies in multiple sectors, including financial services, retail, forest products, homebuilding and energy.
Prior to Primus, Karthik was an Associate Vice President at the National City Bank, where he helped manage a $20 billion subprime mortgage portfolio, evaluated bank acquisition opportunities and leveraged finance investments for the bank’s proprietary portfolio, and researched and helped execute options trading strategies for the wealth management group.
